Lunar New Year 2024

We will host annual Lunar New Year celebration on February 24th, 2024.

This is a free Open-to-Public event at Silver Creek High School (4901 Nelson Road, Longmont, CO 80503).

Lunar New Year is one of the most important celebrations for Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Singaporean, and other East and Southeastern Asian cultures. The holiday marks the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunar calendar. China’s Lunar New Year is known as the Spring Festival or Chūnjié (春节/春節) in Mandarin, while for example, Koreans call it Seollal (설날), and Vietnamese refer to it as Tết.

Chinoiseries 青花瓷 in Fashion

by Qi Zhou Design Studio

Chinoiseries is an art form that imitates Chinese porcelain motifs in Western art and design. It first appeared in Europe in the 17th century, and was heavily popularized by the 18th century. Qi Zhou’s couture designs, displayed in the classic chinoiserie blue and white palette, adopt themes and elements of these revered objects: Sweeping landscapes, fanciful pavilions and pagodas, mighty dragons, and fabulous flowers, birds, and butterflies. Qi presents her custom collection of chinoiserie-inspired gowns in hopes of contributing to the rich modern tapestry of American art, and to share a distinct story that connects human beings over time and space.
