Culture & Activity: Red Envelope

Welcome to the Red Envelopes booth!
At the Red Envelope Booth, children can make their own red envelope. Or if some parents want to get some red envelopes with a brand new $2 bill in it, they can exchange for it with two $1 bills.

Giving monetary gifts in red envelopes to children and other family members, friends, teachers, and employees is an important Chinese tradition and custom throughout the year. It is used for many occasions, such as Chinese New Year, wedding, birthdays, and appreciation gift at the end of year. People usually put new bills in the red envelopes as New Year allowance, birthday money, wedding gift, appreciation gift, or end of year bonus, which all symbolize new opportunities, good fortunes and blessings.
